| Sun was shinning, track was watered and I was left watching once more.. but the racing was good. Dexter Marks made it look all to easy in the experts, leading the first race from start to finish and pulling a nice gap on the rest of the field. Lee Rat Foyle managed to get himself out front in the second and final encounter and although he pulled a small gap by half way he was getting reeled in and it was enevatable of the outcome, David Goosen had a better second race and came home a distance third with a comfortable gap over foruth. Junior 'A' was missing Jamie Mitchell who ended up in 'C' group even after his recent training.. I jest it wasnt his fault he was involved in a collision in his qualifier. So the 'A' group still had a 250 smoker getting out of the gate in pole despite my absence, but it was Olly Mayhew who rocketed away only to be outbraked into turn 2 by a hauling Future Racing Suzuki piloted by Arran Carmichael who went on to set the early pace. But it was Elliot Reeves who was the only junior still doubling out of the new whoops that hit the front and started to stretch a lead untill bike trouble hit the 450 KTM and he faded back leaving Mayhew to take the win followed home by Carmichael. My past came to life in the 'C' group encounter as Ian Barber a racing legend from my inter 100 days lined up next to Jamie Mitchell and I gave Ian a few starting tips (only cos hes rusty, dont think I ever beat him back in the day) and ...HOLESHOT he lead the race and started to pull a meteoric gap on the chasing pack. Mitchell was lanquishing back around the top 10 after turn 1 and quickly sliced his way through to 2nd with what looked to be an impossible margin. It soon became aparrant Mitchell was going to catch Barber as his agrresive riding style was too much for the cautious Suzuki rider (cant blame him 1st round he had a suspectted broken neck!!!!) Mitchell took the flag as consolation for missing the 'A' group with Barber bringing it home in one piece behind. The chairs had both there races red flagged and left the track like a tarmac round making me feel a little better that I wasnt riding the 2 stroke round on marbles. Took a bucket load of pics which i'll start posting up in a bit. | |

| Hi Ady, Had a great day on the smoker and saw you taking some shots so hopefully you got some good ones.... (still waiting for the CD ) Quick race report.... Holeshot in the heat, the RM250 with a Golden Tyre on the rear is the one!! Lead the race till the flag and feeling good for the main. A1 and made a good jump again to grab the holeshot but Carmichael came passed as did Reeves on the KTM. Pushed hard and made the pass on Carmichael round the outside of the hairpin after the tabletop and set off after the leader. Next lap and jumped into one of the bowl turns to see the leader trying to restart his bike. Sweet! Took the lead and held on for the win A2 and grabbed a great holeshot. 2 Strokes Rule Lead for most of the race but Reeves was hunting me down and eventually caught me. Held him off for a lap but made a mistake and he got the drive to make the pass. Settled for 2nd and took the overall as the final block was cancelled due to the side car accidents. Finally got my expert points but will stay Junior for the rest of this season. | |
