Evening Hare Scramble at Bere Regis

Well I didnt even know it was on but I went down to snap the afternoons practice and stayed on to watch and take some more pics.

I only intended to stop for an houe or so but ended up watching the whole shubang as little bro was out front and he was being kept honest by Ben Milward and a few others. Having had a mechanical problem with his KTM earlier one of his pupils stepped in and lent him a 2010 KTM 250 2t Well he obviously liked it as he came back into view a good 20 sec in front of spot 2 and looked comfortable. However by the halfway mark a baulked Ben Milward was hauling through the field and had climbed up the leaderboard into 2nd spot and narrowed the gap to Paul to less than 30 sec. They were both re-fueling at the same time and I think a 4st slipped past without stopping and into the lead.

Paul was away in 2nd and by the time he's come back round he was back in front albeit only by a few sec. Ben was still down in 3rd and seemed to lose some ground somewhere and had dropped back to about a min behind. With another lap under his belt bro had extended the gap back out to a comfortable 30 sec or so but Ben was charging again and had caught back up to the rear fender of the 4st. Time was ticking by and with only a few min remaining all Paul had to do was stay on the bike to take victory. He was back in the mx track field with a sizable gap back to 2nd, into view where I was ready to snap his last shot and as he excited the berm at the foot of the last 200yard uphill loop the KTM spluttered and died.... out of fuel with only a few hundred yrds to the flag. Paul frantically pushed the bike uphill for what must have seemed to be everest with me shouting encouragement only to crest the top and start coasting down to the flag as the thunder of the 4st came past with ease. Talk about having the carpet ripped from under your feet... there must be a moral here...

Anyway hard luck and well ridden bro. Bigger tank required I feel

Yes pretty sure I have one or two of you Sam. Nothing much Paul could of done about the fuel apart from slow down or get a bigger tank
