Sleaford motocross rider Christian Lyth made a return visit to the British Championship MX track at Silverstone where he contested three races on Sunday, winning two and finishing second in the third encounter.
Christian had previously ridden the circuit during the MotoGP weekend and was looking forward to the renewed challenge
Training went well and despite some of the more technical sections having been removed since he was last there, the track was still challenging.
As race one got underway Christian made a good start and was sixth into the first corner, up into second at turn two and challenging for the lead by the end of the lap.Christian was pushing hard and his persistence paid off and he took the lead as they began the second lap. He went on to put in some impressive lap times and took the chequered flag for the win after lapping all but the leading six riders.
Race two went much the same way with Christian taking the lead in the early stages and pulling clear to work his way well clear of the field to secure another superb victory.
Race three didn't go so well for the 16-year-old Lincoln college engineering student who was not so quick to get away at the start. His 125cc machine was always going to struggle against the 250cc bikes that were running within his group but he cut through the pack, although he found the leader much harder to pass this time. After challenging hard for four laps he tried a different approach to make the pass. But he made the mistake of trying to pass on the wettest part of the circuit and crashed. Undeterred Christian remounted and chased after the leader only to have to settle for second place at the flag.
"That was the biggest two wheel slide I have had all season," said Christian after the race. "It went on for that long I thought I could save it, but as the bike slowed it slipped to the ground."
Winter training continues and Christian is looking for top placing in the British Championships for 2011 when he will be racing in the TM UK race team.
